50th Anniversary

Victor Leonard Bosquin, has reached a milestone in our industry. Founder of what now is known today as the Unibox Group. In those decades he has created not less then 107 companies. Nowadays 83 are still active. Some of them are outside of Belgium. One of those companies is better known as Seeben, the worldwide import export company of gambling equipment.

When young Victor worked for a boss as a tailor, he rapidly realised that he wasn’t made to work for someone else. On February 20th 1956 he started his first business as a selfemployee. His first coin operated game was a football table, and now 50 years later he operates more then 6000 games world-wide. All these activities he realised them with good partners. His oldest partners were his closest buddies of the local boy-scouts. They become shareholder of some companies and together they grow to what today is the Unibox Group. More then 1000 employees are currently working for the group, and under the leadership of Victor, they maintain the strong position of the group in the market. His business was rapidly growing. Of course it went with ups and downs, but he always managed to have progression in everything he has undertaken. Some 4 years ago, he had some health problems. His kidneys needed to be replaced. While he was waiting for his replacement organs he needed to undertake dialysis. Instead of lying and waiting in his hospital bed while being hooked up at the machinery, (3 times a week) he took his work along. Because that he was, a fighter. Never could he sit still and do nothing. Today four years later he had his transplant and seems even fitter then ever.

When Victor Bosquin grew up, he started a family, and has 3 children. Two sons and a daughter. It would soon be obvious that there would be a successor for the empire he built up over the years. Victor junior, his full name Victor Leopold Bosquin, was fitted for that role. Vicky, as everyone used to call him, has since a couple of years taken over the presidency of the group. Father Victor is still presiding the board of directors and has the “panache” to run his companies. Of course son Vicky runs the daily management.

Every year, Victor Bosquin offers a small buffet for the main office. This year it had to be different. Vicky decided it had to be the party that everyone would remember and specially his father. It’s not every year that you celebrate a 50th anniversary!

Being co-owner of the Casino of Spa, the location would not be a problem. The facility lends to large crowds. Together with his family, Victor Bosquin has invited 350 people to celebrate. All partners, also oversees, employees, close friends were treated with a fine dinner. A life band animated the evening and magicians entertained the guests at the different tables. A wall of pictures was displayed that showed the early days until now. Some of them reminded of fabulous times.

Vicky took then the stand and gave a speech. He spoke about the role his father really mend for all those companies and thanked also the partners whom have showed their devotion over all these years. Because without them, like he always says, he wouldn’t have achieved what he has today! At the end some emotional words have moved the ballroom. Victor Bosquin has then taken the stand to express his personal thanks to his son and his entire staff. And last but not least, Mrs Bosquin, his wife who stood by him, night and day. She is the ultimate partner a business man like Victor Bosquin needs to be where he is today.
